Central to the work of the Interim Board is the creation of a Nominations and Elections Committee. This group is tasked with facilitating the steps to complete a nomination and election process that will form the first board. There are some features that define the mechanisms that create the board.

The bylaws stipulate that:

  • The board of directors can be created through a process of election, appointment or both.
  • The size of the board can be between 11 and 20 members.
  • Each director will serve a two year term, with the exception of the first board. Half of their directors will serve a one year term to create the conditions for a 50% turn over each year as the organization moves forward. No member can serve more than three consecutive full terms.
  • The executive will be elected by the board members through ordinary resolution and will consist of a chair, vice-chair, secretary and treasurer, and any other officers determined by the board.

(The first elected board can establish a different practice for the next selection process if it so chooses, or it can continue with what is established for the first.)

Nominations

Nomination forms will be available on Friday, September 14, 2018. The standard form will allow candidates to indicate their strengths related to the items listed in the diagram below. There will also be a section to allow individuals to express themselves in the context of the PSAANS Initial Vision and Priorities as listed on page 1. Candidates are encouraged to reflect on all of this information before completing a nomination form.
